Oozey Sans
How does a typeface take shape? Display Type, a seminar led by renowned Munich typographer Mona Franz, challenged conventional approaches to typography through hands-on experimentation. Blending traditional pen-and-paper techniques with digital tools, the course encouraged hands-on exploration of letterforms in new and unexpected ways.
By bridging these analog and technological methods, the seminar introduced a broad range of creative strategies, pushing the boundaries of type design. This interdisciplinary approach offered a deeper understanding of typography — not just as a functional tool, but as a dynamic and expressive medium.

Born from the experimental approach of Display Type, Oozey Sans explores the tension between structure and fluidity in letterforms. Inspired by organic movement — much like how oil behaves in water — the typeface embraces soft, rounded edges and irregular contours, giving it a dynamic, almost liquid-like appearance.

With its laid-back yet expressive character, Oozey Sans brings a bold, playful edge to typography. Perfect for headlines, logos, and statement pieces, it turns type into a visual experience that is as captivating as it is unconventional.
The name "Oozey" stems from the word "ooze," reflecting its slow-dripping, fluid aesthetic, while "Sans" highlights its modern, serifless design. What began as rounded, bubbly letterforms evolved into a striking typeface with a droplet-like weight distribution — thin at the top, thickening toward the bottom, as if melting into place. This effect is further enhanced by streaked, flowing contours, reinforcing its connection to the theme of oil in water.
